-Ryan Gocke, MD
Our spine team is constantly updating their knowledge to stay up to date with the latest spine health advancements. We are committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients.
We offer a wide range of medical services including surgical and non-surgical treatment, diagnostic imaging, and pain management. Our services are designed to meet the unique health needs of each patient.
Dr. Gocke believes that spine health directly correlates with physical, mental, and social well-being. We strive to promote health and wellness to improve your quality of life through surgical and non-surgical treatment options for back pain.
Dr. Gocke works at Orth Virginia. He evaluates patients in the clinic setting at the Boulders OV location as well as Prince George OV location. Dr. Gocke primarily operates at Chippenham hospital, as well as outpatient services at OrthoVa Westchester.
At your office visit, Dr. Gocke will conduct a physical exam to assess your spine. He will discuss potential treatment options with you after gathering information about your back or neck pain.
After each patient evaluation, Dr. Gocke will discuss the need for any diagnostic tests such as MRI studies, CT scans, or X-rays. Diagnostic testing will depend on each patient's symptoms and complaint, previous treatments and tests, and your medical insurance.
Dr. Gocke offers preventive care services including referrals to physical therapy, and Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections for pain management.
You will need to bring your ID and insurance information, as well as any previous diagnostic imaging that you may have (x-ray, CT, MRI).
Acute back pain happens suddenly and can be caused by an accident or traumatic injury resulting in a herniated or bulging disc, muscle tear, ligament injury, or fracture. Chronic back pain is a progressive and/or persistent pain caused by natural aging, sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise, or even certain repetitive movements and long periods of time sitting.
Dr. Gocke first explores non-invasive treatment options before determining that surgery will be necessary. If non-invasive treatment is done and pain persists, imaging studies would be done to decide if the cause of your back pain is in need of surgical intervention.
